Safeguarding in the German Synod

Urgent concerns

If you have information about a safeguarding situation where a child or adult is in immediate danger or requires immediate medical attention, you should call the emergency services on 999 straight away.

The Synod takes the protection and care of our members and all persons we come into contact with extremely seriously.

Reporting Abuse

We encourage anyone who witnesses or suspects abuse or has a safeguarding concern to contact the Safeguarding Officer of the congregation concerned directly. Where this is not possible or appropriate you may report any safeguarding concerns concerning one of our member congregations directly to the Synod by emailing safeguarding@german-church.org.uk. While, as an umbrella body, the Synod may not be able to take direct action in cases concerning our member congregations, we will ensure that any concerns are responded to and, where appropriated, referred to the relevant congregation and/or statutory agency, as appropriate.

Support for Member Congregations

The Synod provides safeguarding support to the trustees of its member congregations through joint membership of an advisory organisation with a helpline, the provision of model safeguarding policies and procedures, and internal advice and support. More information is available in the intranet section of our website or by contacting our office.
